There has been a LOT of arguments over the past twenty-five years or so concerning who actually did this song.

It has been attributed mostly (and incorrectly) to Chris Ledoux or sometimes to David Allen Coe.

First off, the artist who wrote it was Gaye Delorme of Calgary, Canada.  But the band that made it famous was Garry Lee and The Showdown.
