Kryptonite ~ 3 Doors Down

3-doors-down3 Doors Down is an American rock band formed in Escatawpa, Mississippi in the year 1994 by Brad Arnold (vocals and drums), Matt Roberts (guitar) and Todd Harrell (bass).

Brad Arnold is the vocalist for the band and played the drums on their debut CD The Better Life.
He started singing part time for the band after a concert where no one else would sing except for him and he ended up enjoying it.

When Brad told his father that it was his voice on the CD, his father responded, “Go tell your mamma. She might believe you.” He hadn’t heard his son sing one word before the band’s first CD was released.

The band has gone through a line-up change over the years, and the only original member is Brad Arnold.

Kryptonite

“Kryptonite” was written by 3 Doors Down founder/drummer/vocalist, Brad Arnold in a mathematics class when he was fifteen, and was one of the first songs he ever wrote.

In terms of the song’s meaning Arnold has said:

“That song seems like it’s really just kind of like asking a question. Its question is kind of a strange one. It’s not just asking, “If I fall down, will you be there for me?” Because it’s easy to be there for someone when they’re down. But it’s not always easy to be there for somebody when they’re doing good. And that’s the question it’s asking. It’s like, “If I go crazy, will you still call me Superman?” It’s asking, “If I’m down, will you still be there for me?” But at the same time, “If I’m alive and well, will you be there holding my hand?” That’s kind of asking, “If I’m doing good, will you be there for me? Will you not be jealous of me?” That’s the basic question that song’s asking, and maybe throughout the years of singing that song, I might have come up with more meanings for it than it actually might have originally had.”

Kryptonite - Brad Arnold

I took a walk around the world to
Ease my troubled mind
I left my body laying somewhere
In the sands of time
I watched the world float to the dark
Side of the moon
I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah

I watched the world float to the
Dark side of the moon
After all I knew it had to be something
To do with you
I really don’t mind what happens now and then
As long as you’ll be my friend at the end

If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman
If I’m alive and well, will you be
There holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side with
My superhuman might
Kryptonite

You called me strong, you called me weak
But your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times I
Never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if
Not for me then you would be dead
I picked you up and put you back
On solid ground

If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman
If I’m alive and well will you be
There holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side with my
Superhuman might
Kryptonite

When I’m Gone

There’s another world inside of me
That you may never see
There’s secrets in this life
That I can hide
Somewhere in this darkness
There’s a light that I can’t find
Maybe it’s too far away…
Or maybe I’m just blind…
Or maybe I’m just blind…

So hold me when I’m here
Right me when I’m wrong
Hold me when I’m scared
And love me when I’m gone
Everything I am
And everything in me
Wants to be the one
You wanted me to be
I’ll never let you down
Even if I could
I’d give up everything
If only for your good
So hold me when I’m here
Right me when I’m wrong
You can hold me when I’m scared
You won’t always be there
So love me when I’m gone
Love me when I’m gone…

When your education x-ray
Can not see under my skin
I won’t tell you a damn thing
That I could not tell my friends
Now roaming through this darkness
I’m alive but I’m alone
Part of me is fighting this
But part of me is gone

So hold me when I’m here
Right me when I’m wrong
Hold me when I’m scared
And love me when I’m gone
Everything I am
And everything in me
wants to be the one
You wanted me to be
I’ll never let you down
Even if I could
I’d give up everything
If only for your good
So hold me when I’m here
Right me when I’m wrong
You can hold me when I’m scared
You won’t always be there
So love me when I’m gone

Maybe I’m just blind…

So hold me when I’m here
Right me when I’m wrong
Hold me when I’m scared
And love me when I’m gone
Everything I am
And everything in me
Wants to be the one
You wanted me to be
I’ll never let you down
Even if I could
I’d give up everything
If only for your good
So hold me when I’m here
Right me when I’m wrong
You can hold me when I’m scared
You won’t always be there
So love me when I’m gone
Love me when I’m gone…

Whoa, whoa..

Love me when I’m gone
When I’m Gone
When I’m Gone
When I’m Gone…
