Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, known mononymously as Adele, is an English singer-songwriter.
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in Tottenham, London, England, to a single teenage mother on 5 May 1988. She began singing at age four and asserts that she became obsessed with voices. Adele has cited the Spice Girls as a major influence in regard to her love and passion for music, stating that “they made me what I am today.” Adele would also impersonate the Spice Girls at dinner parties as a young girl. To make her look like singer Gabrielle, her mother made an eye patch with sequins, which Adele said was embarrassing.
At the age of 11, Adele and her mother, a furniture-maker and adult learning activities organiser moved to West Norwood, South London. West Norwood is the subject for Adele’s first record, “Hometown Glory”, written when she was 16. After moving to South London, she became interested in R&B artists such as Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child and Mary J Blige.
Rolling In The Deep
The song was written by Paul Epworth and Adele, who described it as a “dark blues-y gospel disco tune”.
http://djallyn.org/media/adele-rolling-in-the-deep.flvThere’s a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch, it’s bringing me out the dark
Finally I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out and I’ll lay your shit bareSee how I leave with every piece of you
Don’t underestimate the things that I will doThere’s a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch
And it’s bring me out the darkThe scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love they leave me breathless
I can’t help feelingWe could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hands
And you played it
To the beatBaby, I have no story to be told
But I’ve heard one of you
And I’m going to make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
Making a home down there
It reminds you of the home we sharedThe scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can’t help feelingWe could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hands
And you played it
To the beatThrow your soul through every open door
Count your blessings to find what you look for
Turned my sorrow into treasured gold
You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sowWe could have had it all
We could have had it all
It all, it all, it all
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart and soul
And you played it
To the beat
