Guns N’ Roses is an American rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band, led by frontman and co-founder Axl Rose, has gone through numerous line-up changes and controversies since their formation. The band has released six studio albums, three EPs and one live album during their career.
The group was formed in early 1980′s by Hollywood Rose members Axl Rose (vocals) and Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), and L.A. Guns members Tracii Guns (lead guitar), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums). The band created its name by combining two of the group members’ names. A short time later, before Guns N’ Roses even played any gigs, guitarist Tracii Guns quit to reform L.A. Guns. Slash replaced Guns, and Duff McKagan replaced Ole Beich (who only played one show.) Slash had played for Rose and Stradlin during a short stint in Hollywood Rose. The new line-up came together quickly, but after deciding to go on a “tour” from Sacramento, California to Duff’s home town of Seattle, drummer Rob Gardner quit and was replaced by Slash’s close friend Steven Adler. The band, which continued to be called Guns N’ Roses even after the departure of Tracii Guns, established its first stable line up on this so-called “Hell Tour”. In an interview, Slash stated, “That [trip to Seattle] is really what cemented the band” and established its chemistry.
You Could Be Mine
Contrary to popular belief, “You Could Be Mine” was not originally going to be the official theme of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. However, the references to Guns N’ Roses that were made in the film (from John Connor’s friend’s Guns N’ Roses t-shirt to the T-800 taking out his shotgun from a box of roses, thus playing a pun on the band’s name) were so clear and obvious that it was a wise business decision to make when director James Cameron decided to recruit the band to perform a song. As it would turn out, “You Could Be Mine” was selected to be included in the film. Arnold Schwarzenegger had the band members over for dinner at his own home to negotiate the deal.
The lyric “With your bitch slap rappin’ and your cocaine tongue you get nothin’ done” from the chorus appeared on the inner sleeve of Guns N’ Roses’ debut album Appetite for Destruction, released in 1987 (the song had already been written by then). This “tradition” was followed by the line “Ain’t It Fun” on the Use Your Illusion albums released in 1991 – two years later GN’R cover of the song “Ain’t It Fun” appeared on “The Spaghetti Incident?” album. Slash states that the song’s writing began at the first preproduction session for Appetite for Destruction.
The song has a minute-long drum and guitar intro. It was played during the ending credits of Terminator 2 and was heard in the film itself in early scenes with John Connor. The original script called for The Ramones song “I Wanna Be Sedated” to be played instead. The song also featured in another part of the Terminator series, Terminator Salvation.
Elton John and Bernie Taupin get special thanks for the inclusion in the lyrics of the line, “‘Cause I think we’ve seen that movie too”

I’m a cold heartbreaker
Fit ta burn and I’ll rip your heart in two
An I’ll leave you lyin’ on the bed
I’ll be out the door before ya wake
It’s nuthin’ new ta you
‘Cause I think we’ve seen that movie too‘Cause you could be mine
But you’re way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin’
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin’ done
I said you could be mineNow holidays come and then they go
It’s nothin’ new today
Collect another memory
When I come home late at night
Don’t ask me where I’ve been
Just count your stars I’m home again‘Cause you could be mine
But you’re way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin’
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin’ done
I said you could be mineYou’ve gone sketchin’ too many times
Why don’t ya give it a rest
Why
Must you find
Another reason to cryWhile you’re breakin’ down my back n’
I been rackin’ out my brain
It don’t matter how we make it
‘Cause it always ends the same
You can push it for more mileage
But your flaps r’ wearin’ thin
And I could sleep on it ’til mornin’
But this nightmare never ends
Don’t forget to call my lawyers
With ridiculous demands
An you can take the pity so far
But it’s more than I can stand
‘Cause this couchtrip’s gettin’ older
Tell me how long has it been
‘Cause 5 years is forever
An you haven’t grown up yetYou could be mine
But you’re way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin’
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin’ done
I said you could be
You should be
You could be mineYeah!
